Honeyed Pork Spare Ribs
INGREDIENTS
  • Servings: 8
  • 1 & 1/2 x KG American-style pork spare ribs
  • 2 x TBSP of light soy sauce
  • 1 x TBSP of hoisin sauce
  • 1/2 x CUP of honey
  • 1/2 x TSP of five spice power/all purpose seasoning
  • 1 x TBSP of brown vinegar
  • 1 x Small red chilli, (chopped)
  • 1/4 x CUP of tomato sauce
  • 1 x TBSP of sweet sherry/dessert wine, (OPTIONAL)
  • 2 x TSP of grated fresh ginger
  • 1 x Clove of garlic, (crushed)
DIRECTIONS
  1. Cut rib racks into individual ribs
  2. Combine all ingredients into a bowl or sealed cooking bag
  3. Toss well and refrigerate for between 6 hours or overnight. The longer the marinade sits, the more flavourful the ribs.
  4. BBQ the ribs until tender, intermittently basting ribs with leftover marinade or bring marinade to a boil in a pot and pour over finished ribs.
RECIPE BACKSTORY
The ribs are best left in the marinade overnight or over a 24 hour period. Cook ribs to your own desired liking.
