Ida's Fried Corn Bread in memory of Ida Roth Galbreath

  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3/4 c. corn meal
  • 1 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  1. Add beaten egg to milk , and add to dry ingredients which have been well mixed. Using a small label pour a circle of mixture in a well oiled hot skillet or griddle , fry until golden brown and serve hot.
I found this recipe in my grandmothers 1945 cookbook, fried corn bread with butter makes a meal better.
