Italian Pizzelle
  • Powder Suger in a shaker (this is for the end, when all your cookies are done to sprinkle on top of each one.
  • 3 eggs, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • (melted and cooled)
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. to 1 tsp. of Anise Extract (optional)
  • (I use McCormiks vanilla and Anise extract)
  • 1 3/4 cups flour (I sift it)
  • 2 tsp. of baking powder.
  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs and sugar. Add the colled butter, vanilla and anise extract. Sift the flour and baking powder together and add to the egg mixture. The batter should be stiff enough to be dropped by spoon.
  2. Batter can also be refrigerated to be used later.
  3. Heat your pizzelle machine A light will go on when ready. Put a heaping tsp. of batter on spoon and place in center of each pizzelle side. Close cover and count 30 to 40 seconds. Take a spachler and remove from maker. Sprinke with powder sugar.
This is a recipie I got in the box with my Pizzelle Maker. If you don't have a Pizzelle Maker you need to get one. They are great. Go on line to view one. They look like a waffle iron, but they are round and make the cookie come out round with a snowflake design inside. The machine makes two cookies at a time. So you need to grab a seat while you make these. LOL No kidding. My Favorite is: - Traditional Italian Pizelles Now, if you love icecream. You can take the pizzelles off the machine and make one roll with each one and let cool. When cool, fill with your favorite icecream and enjoy. You can even freeze a bunch of them with the icecream.
