Janice's Cheesecake

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 1/2 c. vanilla wafer crumbs
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • two 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 5 egg yoks
  • 1 pt. sour cream
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 1 t. lemon juice.
  • 5 egg whites
DIRECTIONS
  1. Make base of vanilla wafer crumbs & butter. Place in bottom of cheese cake pan
  2. Cream cream cheese and sugar. Add 5 egg yoks to cream cheese mix
  3. Stir in sour cream, vanilla, & lemon juice.
  4. Whip egg whites and fold in
  5. Pour over base
  6. Bake at 300 Degrees for 1 hr. Turn off oven for 1 hr. Open oven for 1/2 hour. Leave cheese cake in oven until finished with process and then chill.
RECIPE BACKSTORY
I discovered this recipe in the newspaper when I was first married at 18 in 1961. I've been making it ever since and my family loves it.
