Joey's steak and gravy

  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 t. salt
  • 1/8 t. pepper
  • 6 to 8 beef cube steaks
  • 1 t. butter
  • 2 10-3/4 oz. cans cream of mushroom soup
  • 2-1/2 c. water
  • Optional: 4-oz. can sliced mushrooms, drained
  1. Mix flour, salt and pepper in a shallow bowl. Dredge meat in flour mixture. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat; add meat and brown on both sides. Arrange meat in a lightly greased 13"x9" baking pan; set aside. Combine soup, water and mushrooms, if using, in a bowl. Pour soup mixture over meat; cover with aluminum foil. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes. Uncover; bake an additional 15 minutes.
