Karen's Gingerbread Recipe

  • Gingerbread Recipe
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening (Crisco)
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup (light)
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Mortar (icing to hold house together)
  • 3 egg whites AT ROOM TEMPERATURE
  • 1 box (1 lb) confectioners sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
DIRECTIONS
  1. Gingerbread Recipe:Mix all ingredients in food processor to form dough or use electric hand mixer. Bake houses pieces at 350 for 10-12 minutes
  2. Mortar (icing to hold house together): Beat ingredients for TEN (10) minutes until stiff. (Don't cheat:)
