Kentucky Sugar Cookies
  • 1 c butter, softened
  • 1 c oil
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 c sifted powdered sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 4 c flour
  • 1 t salt
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 1 t cream of tartar
  • Additional sugar-optional
  1. Beat butter and oil in large bowl at med. speed until blended.
  2. Gradually add 1 c sugar and powdered sugar, beating well.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla, beating until blended. Combine four and next 3 ingred.
  4. Add to butter mixture, mixing well.
  5. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  6. Bake @ 350 degrees for 9-10 min or until lightly broned.
  7. Remove to wire racks; sprinkle with additionl sugar while warm, if desired.
  8. Let cool.
  9. Makes: 9 doz
  10. Freeze cookies in airtight conainer up to 1 month.
This happens to be one of my easiest and most requested sugar cookies to make. *I use an icecream scoop to put the dough on the cookie sheets! It makes less cookies and takes a little longer to bake. About 14 min.
