Lebanese meat pie (sfeeha)

  • 1 tbs dried yeast
  • 1 1/2 cup of warm water
  • 1 tbs of sugar
  • 1 tbs of salt
  • 1 cup of oil
  • 700 g all purpose flour
  • 1 egg and 1 tbsp of water to brush

  • 1 pound ground meat
  • 1 onion diced
  • 2 tomatoes seeded and diced
  • Salt

  • 1 lemon juice

DIRECTIONS
  1. Season the meat and let it strain the liquids. Meanwhile...
  2. Dissolve yeast with sugar, oil and warm water.
  3. Add salt and flour a little bit at a time. mixing well until dough is smooth. In a floured surface divide the dough in 50 small balls. Let it rest and rise for 15 minutes.
  4. Open the balls and fill with 1 tablespoon of meat. Close it in shape of a triangle and place them in a greased pan.
  5. Brush the pies with egg wash and bake in a preheated oven at 400 F for 20 minutes or until golden.
