My husband's mother, Mama Smith, was from Woodsfield, Ohio. Unfortunately, I did not have the privilege of meeting her. Mama Smith cooked this Barbecue for Gordon as a child. She wrote out the recipe for him when he got married. After the untimely death of his first wife, we met and have been happily married for almost 20 years. In cleaning his kitchen 20 years ago, I found a box of hand written recipes from Mama Smith. Mama Smith wrote on this recipe, "Gordon's favorite". It is still our favorite family recipe, requested for many a birthday and family dinners! Sharing this recipe only expands our family love of cooking and makes Mama Smith, a great scratch cook, smile as she looks down from heaven!
