Maple Bars

INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup sifted flour
- 1/2 cup soft shortening (I use 1/4 cup butter and 1/4 cup shortening)
- 1 cup nutmeats
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 egg
DIRECTIONS
- Heat oven to 350ºF. Grease a square pan, 8 × 8 inches. Mix all ingredients thoroughly. Spread in prepared pan. Bake 30-35 minutes. Cut into squares while still warm.
