Meringue Kisses
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/4 tsp of cream of tartar
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • red food coloring
  • flavoring of you choice
  1. In a small mixer bowl, beat the egg whites with cream of tartar at high speed until foamy.Add the coloring anf flavoring. Add the sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating constantly until sugar is dissolved and the whites are glossy and stand in stiff peaks. Drop meringue by rounded spoonfuls or pipe through a pastry bag, 1 inch apart onto cookie sheets lines with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated 225*F oven until firm, about 1 hour. Turn oven off. Let cookies stand in oven with door closed until cool, dry and crisp, at least an additional hour. Store tightly in a sealed container.
