Michel et Augustin's Original Shortbread Cookies
INGREDIENTS

  • Sugar - ⅓ cup
  • Butter - 8 tbsp. softened at room temperature
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Flour - 1 ½ cups all-purpose
  • Salt -1 pinch
DIRECTIONS
  1. In your bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Blenders are great but your hands might do a better job and they’re easier to use!
  2. Continuing with your hands or using the optional wooden spoon, add the egg, blending the ingredients.
  3. Add a pinch of salt and all-purpose flour. Blend with your hands but don’t overwork the dough. When the resulting dough is ready, it will stick together and be smooth. Test it by making a small ball of dough. If it stays together, it’s ready.
  4. Seal your dough in plastic wrap and chill it in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. It you’re making this recipe ahead of time, you can leave it in the fridge for up to 2 days. Chilling the dough will make rolling it out a lot easier!
  5. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  6. Sprinkle your counter surface with flour.
  7. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough out.
  8. Using a cookie cutter, cut out as many little cookies as you can.
  9. Line up your cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet
  10. Bake for 10 minutes
  11. Keep a close eye on your cookies! When your cookies are a nice golden brown, take them out of the oven to cool for a few minutes.
  12. C’est tout! Once the buttery scent overwhelms you, eat those delicious cookies!
