  • 1 pkg dry yeast, 1/2 cup warm water, 5 cups flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt, 3 Tbsp. sugar, 2 cups buttermilk,, 3/4 cup shortening
  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water, Combine in bowl flour, soda, baking powder and sugar. Cut in the shortening. Add buttermilk and yeast water to dry ingredients. Mix well. Flour hands and shape into ball; Bake at 400 for 10 minutes. Dough will be very sticky when ready to use, do not add more flour. Store extra in fridge for a few days until needed.
