Multi-Purpose Herbal Healing Ointment
INGREDIENTS
  • Servings: approx one pint
  • 8 oz shea butter
  • 6 oz coconut oil (after herbs have steeped, add enough coconut oil back in to equal 14 oz again)
  • 2 Tbsp calendula petals, packed tightly
  • 2 Tbsp comfrey
  • 1 Tbsp packed tight marshmallow root
  • 1 Tbsp packed tight arnica
  • 1 Tbsp yarrow
  • 1 Tbsp plaintain
  • 2 Tbsp candelilla wax or beeswax
  • 20 drops wild orange essential oil
  • 20 drops citrus bliss essential oil (if you don’t have this, use lemon essential oil)
  • 10 drops frankincense essential oil
  • 5 drops melaleuca essential oil
  • 5 drops lavender essential oil
  • 1 Tbsp vitamin e acetate oil
DIRECTIONS
  1. Carefully measure out your shea butter, coconut oil and herbs.
  2. Turn your oven on to 200°. When it’s warmed up all the way, turn it off. While it’s warming, melt the coconut oil and the shea butter in an oven-proof pan on your stove top. Add the herbs, stir them in, then move the pan into the oven. Let it steep there for at least 4 hours.
  3. Tare a container on your kitchen scale. Strain the infused oils into this container and toss the herbs in the compost bucket. Add coconut oil until to the container until the weight of all the oils equals 14 oz. again. Rinse out the pan you used before and put the oils back in there.
  4. Warm the infused oil up on the stove top and add the wax, stirring until melted. Remove from heat and stir in the essential oils and Vitamin E oil. Pour into a clean container with a lid, label and store in a cool place.
