My Chili
INGREDIENTS
- Cooking Time: 1-2 hours
- Servings: 6-8
- Preparation Time: 20 min
- 1 lb ground beef, 85% lean
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1/2 red bell pepper
- 1/2 green bell pepper
- 1 large can whole or diced tomatoes
- 1/2 small can tomato paste
- 2 Tbsp Chili seasoning mix (see my recipe for this on bakespace)
- or
- 4 tsp chili powder
- 1 Tbsp crushed red pepper or 1/8 tsp cayenne
- 1 Tbsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 cans kidney beans, drained & rinsed
- 1 cup water
DIRECTIONS
- Brown ground beef, add chopped onions and peppers to pan. You can use either red or green or a mixture of both. Saute for 5 minutes.
- Add spices to meat and then add in the tomato paste and mix well.
- Add canned tomatoes and water. If using whole tomatoes then cut them up a bit. I like the whole tomatoes because they are softer.
- Simmer for 1-2 hours. Add beans about 1/2 hour before done.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
