My Mom's Best Chili
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 medium onions
  • 2 16-oz cans tomatoes
  • 1 6-oz can tomato paste
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1/2 lb kidney beans
  • 2 T chili powder
  • 1 t sugar
  • Salt and pepper
  • About 12-oz water
DIRECTIONS
  1. Brown beef and onions, drain off fat. Mix all ingredients except kidney beans in kettle; bring to boil, then simmer for 4-5 hours. Kidney beans should be soaked over night or simmered in water for 3-4 hours before adding to chili. Add about 1/2 hour before serving.
