My Mom's Grasshopper Brownies
INGREDIENTS
- Brownies:
- 1/2 cup butter, soft
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 can chocolate syrup (16oz)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Middle Layer:
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons creme de menthe
- 2-3 drops of green food color
- Frosting:
- 6 ounces chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup butter
DIRECTIONS
- Brownies:
- Cream together the butter and sugar.
- Beat until this is fluffy.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each one.
- Mix together the flour annd salt.
- Add this to the butter mixture, mixing alternately with chocolate syrup.
- Stir in vanilla.
- Pour into greased and floured 13x9 baking pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes, Cool completely.
- Middle layer:
- Mix butter, powdered sugar,creme de menthe and food color in small bowl.
- Mix thoroughly.
- Spread over brownies.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least an 1 hour.
- Frosting:
- Put the chocolate chips and butter in small pan, melting on low heat, stirring until smooth.
- Spread over brownies.
- Cover and refrigerate.
- Cut into squares, enjoy!
