OLD FASHIONED PRUNE CAKE

- 1 cup oil - 3 eggs - 1-1/2 cups sugar - 2 cups all purpose flour (sifted)
- 1 tsp. soda - 1 tsp. cinnamon - 1 tsp. nutmeg - 1 tsp. allspice
- 1 up buttermilk - 1 cup cooked prunes (seeded and cut in small pieces)
- 1 tsp vanilla - 1 cup chopped pecans - 1 tsp. salt
DIRECTIONS
- Grease and flour a 9 x 13 cake pan.
- Pre heat oven to 325%
- Sift together dry ingredients.
- On medium speed of mixer beat together oil and sugar;
- add eggs and beat till light and fluffy.
- Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk.
- Stir in nuts and prunes.
- Pour into prepared pan and bake one hour.
- Glaze:
- 1 cup sugar - 1/2 cup buttermilk - 1/2 stick butter -
- 1/2 tsp. soda - 1/2 tsp vanilla
- Mix together in a 2 quart cooker.
- Cook over low heat (do not stir) until soft ball stage.
- Pour over warm cake.
- (Soda will cause foaming, stir it down).
