Oatmeal Carmelitas
INGREDIENTS
- 32 caramels
- 5 tablespoons light cream or evaporated milk
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup butter, melted
- 6 ounces chocolate chips or milk chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
DIRECTIONS
- Melt caramels in cream. Cool slightly. Combine remaining ingredients except
- chips and nuts. Press half of crumbs into bottom of 11x7 pan. Bake at 350 for
- 10 minutes. Remove from oven. Sprinkle with chips and nuts. Spread carefully
- with caramel mixture. Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture. Bake 15-20
- minutes longer or until golden brown. Chill 1-2 hours.
