Old Fashioned Gingersnaps

- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground cloves
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Additional sugar
DIRECTIONS
- In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar
- Beat in the egg and molasses
- Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and salt
- Gradually add to the creamed mixture
- Chill
- Roll into 1 1/4 inch balls
- Dip into the sugar
- Place 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets
- Bake at 375 F for about 10 minutes or until set and the surface cracks
- Cool on wire racks
