Old Holland Meatballs

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 or 3 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 egg
  • 1 jar sauerkraut
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 can tomato juice
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
DIRECTIONS
  1. Mix all ingredients well, form into balls, about twice the size as golf balls.
  2. Drain sauerkraut. Place layer of kraut on bottom of large pan. Place layer of
  3. meatballs on top. Layer again the same way. Pour full can of tomato juice on
  4. top. Don't stir. Bring to a boil &reduce heat. Simmer for 1 1/2-2 hours. Stir
  5. after 1/2 of cooking time, gently. Serve over mashed potatoes
