Papaw's Elbow Macaroni
INGREDIENTS
- Cooking Time: 10 - 13 mins. approx.
- Servings: 4 to 6
- Preparation Time: 5 min. approx.
- 1 Lb. box Elbow macaroni pasta
- 1 - 1 1/2 cans of stewed tomatoes
- 1 - 3 T. sugar or to taste
- salt and pepper, to taste
DIRECTIONS
- Cook elbow macaroni according to pkg. directions, drain.
- Open cans of stewed tomatoes, and dump into lrg. bowl. Do not heat the tomatoes!
- Add the sugar atop the tomatoes.
- Add the drained macaroni.
- Stir to mix well.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
RECIPE BACKSTORY
This is a main dish my Papaw created when he was a mess hall cook at the beginning of his military career. He never actually measured anything out...so I've attempted to give the approx. measurements as I saw him make this. This is by far my fave dish that he made. You may have to play with the measurements a bit. You want the final result to be a little sweet but not too much...
