Pork Chops - smothered and covered
  • Cooking Time: 35
  • 4 pork chops -- center cut (1/2 inch thick)
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 onions -- sliced
  1. Season pork chops with seasoning salt and pepper, coat completely with flour.
  2. Heat oil in heavy skillet.
  3. Add pork chops and brown on each side (about 3 minutes per side).
  4. Remove and set aside.
  5. Add sliced onions to the pan drippings and cook for 1 minute.
  6. Add remaining flour continue to stir until onions and flour begin to brown.
  7. Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil, stir until incorporated
  8. Return pork chops to the gravy, cover skillet, reduce heat and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes until gravy is thick and pork chops are tender.
