  • Dough:
  • 3 Tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups flour
  • ¼ pound butter
  • 1 cup sweet or sour cream
  • 1 cake yeast
  • ¼ cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3 beaten egg yolks
  • Filling:
  • In bowl 1 mix:
  • 1 pound ground walnuts
  • ¼ pound butter
  • 1 egg yolk
  • The rind of 1 lemon
  • ¼ cup hot milk
DIRECTIONS
  1. In bowl 2, beat 4 egg whites with 1 cup sugar until stiff.
  2. Fold this egg white mixture into bowl 1 nut mix.
  3. Roll out dough and spread with nut filling mixture.
  4. Roll up and let raise 1 ½ hours.
  5. Brush with milk and bake at 325° for 1 hour.
