Potica
INGREDIENTS
- Dough:
- 3 Tablespoons sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoon salt
- 4 cups flour
- ¼ pound butter
- 1 cup sweet or sour cream
- 1 cake yeast
- ¼ cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 3 beaten egg yolks
- Filling:
- In bowl 1 mix:
- 1 pound ground walnuts
- ¼ pound butter
- 1 egg yolk
- The rind of 1 lemon
- ¼ cup hot milk
DIRECTIONS
- In bowl 2, beat 4 egg whites with 1 cup sugar until stiff.
- Fold this egg white mixture into bowl 1 nut mix.
- Roll out dough and spread with nut filling mixture.
- Roll up and let raise 1 ½ hours.
- Brush with milk and bake at 325° for 1 hour.
