Pound Cake
INGREDIENTS
- Lightly grated rind of 1 lemon
- 1 lb sugar
- 1 level tsp mace
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 LB butter
- 12 eggs
- 1 lb flour
DIRECTIONS
- Grate lemon rind onto the sugar, mace, and salt. Then, mix with butter and sugar until light and creamy.
- Add eggs, two at a time, beating well.
- Then, add flour, mixing in lightly but fully.
- Put mixture into well-greased paper-lined pans. (note: pan sizes are not indicated in this recipe)
- Bake at 250 degrees for 1 1/2 hours, testing with straw toward the end of baking.
