Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread

- 3 1/2 cup flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups pumpkin (plain)
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- Note - may substitute pumpkin pie spice for the cinnamon,nutmeg, ginger and cloves
DIRECTIONS
- Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, ginger and cloves or the pumpkin pie spice if using. Set aside
- Cream butter, add sugar and beat 2 minutes.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, stirring after each addition.
- Add dry ingredients alternating with the pumpkin, stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
- Put batter in 2 8 x 4 inch greased loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 75 minutes.
- Test if done with a cake tester.
- Cook longer if still wet in middle.
- Makes 2 loaves
