Pumpkin Nut Cookies

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange extract
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour, sifted
  • 2 teaspoons bking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped
  • ICING:
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup brown sugar
DIRECTIONS
  1. For cookies: Cream butter and sugar add pumpkin, flavoring and egg blend well. Resift four with baking powder, salt and spices. Mix into first mixture. Stir in nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen.

  3. Bring butter, milk and brown sugar to boil. Icing will appear runny. Allow time to thicken.
