Red Devils Food Cake

INGREDIENTS
  • 2/3 cup Crisco
  • 2 eggs (unbeaten)
  • 1 ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 ½ cups cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 6 drops red food coloring
  • 1 ½ cups buttermilk
  • 3 squares melted cooled chocolate
DIRECTIONS
  1. Melt chocolate and set aside.
  2. Combine Crisco, sugar, and eggs and beat until light.
  3. Add remaining ingredients (except chocolate) alternating dry and wet ingredients.
  4. Beat until moistened.
  5. Add chocolate.
  6. Beat 3 minutes.
  7. Put in greased flour pan.
  8. Bake at 350F for 25-30 minutes.
