Salisbury Steak
INGREDIENTS
- 2 egg whites, lightly beaten
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1, 14 1/2-oz. can beef broth
- 1, 2-oz. can sliced mushrooms, drained
- 1 tablespoon parsley or sliced green onion
DIRECTIONS
- Combine egg whites, ketchup and Worcestershire sauce in a mixing bowl. Stir in onion, salt and pepper. Add meat; mix well. Shape meat mixture into four 3/4-inch-thick patties. Coat patties lightly with flour. Brown patties on both sides in a nonstick skillet that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Stir together cornstarch and beef broth. Pour over patties in skillet. Add mushrooms. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Cover; simmer 15 minutes or until no pink remains, turning once. Sprinkle parsley or green onion over top.
