Salisbury Steaks
  • 2 onions, divided
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup soft bread crumbs
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • Dash nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 cups sliced mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch blended with 1/2 cup water
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • Pepper, to taste
  1. Mince half an onion; mix with beef, bread crumbs, salt and nutmeg. Shape into 4 steak-shaped patties and sauté in a skillet for 4 minutes. Remove patties from skillet and keep warm. Drain fat from skillet.
  2. Slice remaining onion. Sauté with mushrooms in butter until tender. Add cornstarch mixture and bouillon to onion mixture. Cook and thicken. Add pepper and spoon onto steaks.
