Salted Nut Bars

INGREDIENTS
  • Crust:
  • 1/2 c. softened butter
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
  • Topping:
  • 2 T. butter
  • 1/2 c. white Karo syrup
  • 12 oz. pkg. butterscotch chips
  • 11-oz can of mixed nuts
DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 350-degrees
  2. Crust:
  3. Mix ingredients together.
  4. Pat into a greased 13x9" pan.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes.
  6. Topping:
  7. Melt butter, cornsyrup and butterscotch chips in a medium saucepan.
  8. Pour syrup mixture over the baked crust, spreading evenly.
  9. Sprinkle mixed nuts evenly over the top.
  10. Bake an additional 10 minutes.
  11. Cut in bars to serve.
RECIPE BACKSTORY
On a recent trip to North Dakota, I enjoyed these bars at a church dinner. Quite yummy--easy to make, too.
