Salted Oatmeal Cookies
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup shortening -butter or margarine,if preferred
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 cups quick cooking oats
DIRECTIONS
- Cream shortening and sugar, add egg and beat well.
- Sift dry ingredients together and add to first mixture.
- Stir in vanilla and oatmeal. Mix well and chill.
- Roll out thin on floured board, cut in squares.
- Sprinkle very lightly with salt and bake 10 minutes on a lightly greased cookie sheet in 375° oven.
