Sausage jalapeño cornbread dressing

- 3/4 cup butter divided
- 1 1/2 cups chopped onion
- 2 jalapeño peppers, seeded and minced
- 1/2 pound spicy Italian sausage ( no casing)
- 1 package cornbread stuffing mix
- 3 cups dry bread crumbs
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 2 cups warm chicken broth ( can add more if needed)
- 1 egg beaten
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven 350 degrees
- Grease pan ( usually 9x9 )
- In a heavy skillet, melt 8 tbs butter over low heat. Sauté onion and peppers untill soft. Place sausage in skillet, crumble and cook over med high heat untill evenly brown. Drain & transfer into a large bowl.
- Combine sausage mixture, with stuffing mix, bread crumbs, warm chicken stalk, & egg.
- Add salt , pepper, & mix well. Place dressing in greased pan. Dot with remaing butter.
- Bake for about 45 mins. untill slightly brown.
