Shaped Rolls

  • 1 Tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup Warm water
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup scalded milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 4 cups flour
DIRECTIONS
  1. In a small bowl, dissolve sugar in water. Sprinkle yeast over the water and stir. sit aside.
  2. Meanwhile, in a large bowl place butter, sugar and salt. Pour the scalded milk in and stir well. Once cool, stir in the yeast mixture and the egg. Stir in 1/2 the flour and work in the other 1/2 gradually.
  3. Knead dough for 8 minutes. Place dough in greased bowl and cover and let rise in a warm spot till doubled
  4. Once doubled, punch down dough and divide into 2 equal portions. Roll into any shaped rolls you prefer.
  5. Place on cookie sheet with the seam side down. Let rise again till double. Bake at 350F for about 10-12 mins or till golden. Makes 12 rolls
