String Cheese Sticks with Dipping Sauce

  • 2 1/4 Cups Bisquick mix
  • 2/3 Cup milk
  • 1 pkg. (8 oz.) string cheese
  • 1 can (8 oz.) pizza sauce OR marinara sauce
  • 1 Tbls. butter, melted
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
DIRECTIONS
  1. Heat oven to 450 degrees.
  2. In medium bowl, stir Bisquick mix and milk until soft dough forms; beat 30 seconds with spoon.
  3. Place dough on surface sprinkled with Bisquick mix; Shape into a ball; knead 10 times.
  4. Gently roll cheese sticks in Bisquick mix to coat.
  5. Roll dough into 12 X 8 inch rectangle, 1/4 inch thick. Cut into 8 (6 X 2-inch)rectangles.
  6. Roll each rectangle around 1 piece of cheese. Pinch edge into roll to seal, seal ends.
  7. Roll on surface, completely enclose cheese
  8. sticks.
  9. On ungreased cookie sheet, place sticks seam sides down.
  10. Bake 8 - 10 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Meanwhile, in 1-quart saucepan, heat (pizza or maronara) sauce over low heat until warm.
  12. In small bowl, mix butter and garlic powder; brush over warm cheese sticks before removing from cookie sheet.
  13. Serve warm with sauce for dipping.
  14. Yield: 4 servings (2 cheese sticks each)
