Sugar Cookies
  • Preparation Time: 15
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ c. shortening
  • 1 ½ c. buttermilk(regular milk with 1 ½ tbs vinegar added to it)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 ½-4 c. flour
  1. Make buttermilk by adding 1 ½ tbs vinegar added to it, let sit for 3 minutes.
  2. Combine all ingredients.
  3. Drop onto cookie sheet, sprinkle with sprinkles. Bake at 450* until lightly brown on the edges.
This recipe was made by my Grandmother's best friend every year for when we all got together at the beach for a week. She has since passed away, and I now continue to make them every year, and also make them at Christmas. They bring back happy memories every time that we bake them.
