Sweet and Sour Meatballs
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup soft bread crumbs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground pork, optional
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 (12-ounce) bottles chili sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 jar (10-ounce) grape jelly
- 8 ounces sour cream
- hot cooked rice or noodles
DIRECTIONS
- Combine bread crumbs, milk, chopped onion, ground beef and pork, egg, salt, and pepper. Shape into 1-inch balls.
- In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, combine chili sauce, water, and grape jelly.
- Add meatballs and simmer gently for 1 hour.
- Just before serving, stir in sour cream.
- Serve sweet and sour meatballs over hot rice or noodles.
- Spread hot mixture over the chips; sprinkle grated cheddar cheese on top and put in the oven for 20 minutes or until cheese is melted and browned.
