Sweet and Sour Tamarind Chutney

  • Servings: 1 cup/200g
  • Preparation Time: 5 minutes
  • Tamarind paste 3 tbsp
  • Sugar 100g
  • Cumin powder 1 tsp
  • Chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  1. Mix the tamarind paste in 1 cup hot water.
  2. Add the sugar to the tamarind alongwith the spices and salt.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  4. Let the mixture cool a bit and blend in a mixer to a smooth puree.
  5. Strain and use accordingly.
This makes for a versatile chutney or a dressing which you can use it to drizzle bland canapes, or use it as a dressing to toss veggies or use as a spread for sandwiches.
