Sweet steamed dumplings (Buchty na pare)

  • Leavened dough (recipe below)
  • Jam- plum, strawberry, blueberry, apricot or any you like
  • Melted butter
  • Cocoa powder mixed with sugar
DIRECTIONS
  1. Roll out the dough about 1/3 inch thick
  2. Cut squares, fill middle of the square with spoonful of jam
  3. Pinch together opposite sides of the square and form a closed dumpling, so the jam does no leak
  4. Boil pot of water, add the steamer, place couple of dumplings in the steamer and steam about 12 minutes
  5. Repeat until all the dumplings are steamed
  6. Brush them with melted butter and cocoa/sugar mix sprinkled on the top.
  7. Leavened dough:
  8. 1 pack of yeast; about 8 cups of flour; 1 cup of milk; 2 handfuls of sugar, water, baking powder, little bit of oil
  9. Start by combining about cup of luke warm milk and 4 tbs of sugar and pack of yeast. Whisk it together and set aside covered for few minutes.
  10. Combine 8 cups of flour into large pot. Add baking powder and about handful of sugar, add a little bit of oil and yeast mixture once it has risen (after 10-15 minutes). Add a bit of water and work the dough with yuor hands until no longer sticks to the pot. Add more water as needed. Form the dough into a bun and evenly dust the top with flour. Then cover the pot with cloth and set aside to let rise in a warm place for an hour or two. After 1 -2 hours scoop the dough out and place it onto a wooden board dusted with flour. Use your hands to flatten the dough, slightly brush with oil, then fold the dough over flatten out with hands and brush with oil again. Then again fold the dough over and form into a uniform bun and cut into two or three pieces. Each of them will be an induvidual cake.
