Tea Cookies in a Jar
  • 1-1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 t. cinnamon
  • 1/2 t. nutmeg
  • 1t. baking soda
  • 1/2 salt
  • 2 c. long-cooking oats, uncooked
  • 3/4 c, brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. raisins
  1. Combine first 5 ingredients together; layer in a quart jar. Pack firmly; layer remaining ingredients except raisins in order listed, packing each layer. spoon raisins into plastic sipping bag. Secure lid, tie on raisins and instructions.
  2. Empty mix and raisins into a large mixing bowl; toss gently to blend. Add 3/4 cup softened butter, one beaten egg and one teaspoon vanilla extract; mix well. Shape into one-inch balls; arrange 2 inches apart on parchment paper-lined baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes; cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes. Remove to wire racks and cool completely.
