Texas Chili
INGREDIENTS
  • 2 lbs ground meat (beef, turkey or whatever)
  • 4 C beef or chicken broth
  • 1 small onion (diced)
  • 1 can Ranch style beans (optional)
  • 2 Tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 small can tomato paste
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
DIRECTIONS
  1. In large stockpot or dutch oven:
  2. Brown meat, drain off excess grease & remove to bowl
  3. Saute onion until browned in pot--add sugar
  4. Return meat to pot and add all dried spices
  5. Add broth, tomatoes and tomato paste,mix well
  6. Simmer on low heat for 1-2 hours
  7. Add beans for last 30-45 mintues of cooking, if desired
  8. Top with sour cream, diced red onion or cheddar cheese
  9. Delicious when served with hot cornbread!!
