Texas Sheet Cake
INGREDIENTS
- 2 sticks butter
- 1 cup water
- 4 Tbl cocoa (She recommends DROSTE in red box Cocoa (holland))
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 tsp (or less) salt
- 2 eggs beaten
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 T vinegar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- For Icing:
- 1 stick butter
- 4 Tbl cocoa
- 6 Tbl milk
- 1 box powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 c chopped walnuts
DIRECTIONS
- In a sauce pan, bring butter, water, and cocoa to a boil, set aside
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar and salt.
- In a small bowl, beat eggs, buttermilk, vanilla, vinegar, and soda.
- Add all three together and beat. Pour into a sheet cake pan.
- Bake @ 400 degrees for 20 min.
- For the Icing: bring butter, cocoa and milk to a rolling boil, then add 1 box (less) powdered sugar, vanilla, and chopped walnuts.
- Ice cake while still warm.
