Texas chocolate sheet cake

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/4 c hershey's unsweetened cocoa powder
  • frosting
  • 1/2 c butter
  • 6 T milk
  • 4 T hershey's unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 lb powdered sugar
DIRECTIONS
  1. Boil together the water, butter, and cocoa, set aside
  2. mix together the rest of the ingredients and add the liquid cocoa mixture, mixing well
  3. Pour into a jellyroll pan
  4. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes
  5. While cake is baking, prepare frosting -
  6. Boil together the butter, milk, and cocoa.
  7. Add powdered sugar, whisking to keep mixture smooth
  8. Pour frosting over cake while still warm - this really makes a difference in the end result
  9. When cooled, cut as desired :)

This is so chocolately that it is often mistaken for a brownie - it is really decadent, and amazing with coffee ice cream!
