Turkey or Chicken A La King
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chopped cooked turkey
  • 1/3 cup frozen peas, thawed (or one small can of peas)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  1. In a large skillet over medium low heat, cook butter until golden brown
  2. Saute mushrooms until tender
  3. Whisk in flour until smooth
  4. Slowly whisk in broth and cook until slightly thickened
  5. Stir in cream, turkey and peas
  6. Reduce heat to low, and cook until thickened
  7. Season with salt and pepper
My version is Turkey A La King with vegetable broth, but you can sub turkey with chicken and veg broth with chicken broth for the exact same results.
