White Sandwich Bread using Grandmas Gluten Free Baking Mix
  • Cooking Time: 35 minute bake time for loaf of bread, 25 minute bake time for hamburger buns, and 20 minute bake time for slider buns.
  • Servings: Recipe makes 1 1/2 lb. loaf of bread, 16-20 slices plus either 2 hamburger buns or 6 slider buns.
  • Preparation Time: 1 hour & 15-20 minutes including 1 hour raise time.
  • 1 1/2 c. water or milk
  • 1/4 c. oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 T. sugar
  • 1 t. salt
  • 1 T. active dry yeast
  • 1 T. + 1/2 t. zanthum gum
  • 3 1/2 c. Grandmas GF Baking Mix
  1. Heat milk in microwave for 2 minutes on high. Meanwhile using either stand mixer or hand mixer, add heated milk and beat on low, add oil, sugar salt, and eggs, then beat on low. Add yeast and continue beating on low. Turn off mixer and stir in by hand Grandmas GF Baking Mix and zanthum gum until moistened. Turn mixer back on and beat for 1 minute on medium speed. Prepare pans for buns or sliders by heavily greasing sides and lining bottoms with parchment paper (cupcake papers can be used for slider buns if desired). Pour batter into either two 4" prepared ramekins to make hamburger buns, or six prepared muffin cups to make slider buns; pour remaining batter into a standard loaf pan lined with parchment paper. Bake in an oven preheated to 375 F for 20 minutes for sliders, 25 minutes for hamburger buns, and 35 minutes for loaf pan. Cool in pan for 5 minutes, then remove to wire rack to cool completely before cutting. This bread contains no preservatives, so keep out what you will eat in a day or so and freeze the remainder to use as needed. If you don't like the ends of bread, put them in a freezer bag along with any broken pieces, scraps, etc to keep for making breadcrumbs or croutons. Bread freezes well.
