Yule Wassail
  • 2 litres apple juice
  • 1 litre orange juice
  • 1 litre cranberry juice
  • 2 litres grape juice
  • 3 cups Brandy
  • 2 cups Sherry
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup raw sugar
  • 5-10 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/4 cup cloves
  • 1 whole nutmeg
  1. Combine in large stock pot or large crock pot:
  2. Tie in a square of cheesecloth:
  3. (alternately, if you have a strainer in your pot, these can be put directly into the liquid)
  4. 5-10 cinnamon sticks ,1/4 cup cloves,1 whole nutmeg.
  5. Simmer on low heat until it comes to a boil. Do not heat too quickly - the spices need time to mull. When it boils, that is your sign that it's at it's best to drink. (This usually takes up to a half hour for me.)
  6. You can store this for up to 10 days in the refrigerator and either re-heat or serve chilled.
