Yvette’s Whole Wheat Pie Crust
INGREDIENTS
  • Cooking Time: 8-12 minutes
  • Ingredients for single crust:
  • 2/3 C white flour
  • 1/3 C whole wheat flour
  • 1/3 C vegetable shortening
  • 2 T butter
  • 1 to 4 T very cold water
  • Ingredients for double crust:
  • 2 C + 2 T whole wheat flour
  • 2/3 C shortening
  • 2 T butter
  • Up to 1/3 C water
DIRECTIONS
  1. Sift flours together.
  2. Cut in shortening and butter.
  3. Mix in as little water as possible to hold dough together.
  4. Form dough into ball.
  5. Wrap in wax paper or plastic.
  6. Chill for at least 15 minutes.
  7. Directions for baked pie shell:
  8. Prick unbaked shell with fork before baking.
  9. Bake at 375 to 450 degrees for 8-12 minutes.
RECIPE BACKSTORY
Makes One 8” to 10” single crust OR a double crust. For white flour crust, use 1 cup white flour instead of white and wheat mixture.
