braised brussels sprouts

  • 1 lb brussels sprouts cut in half
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 onion diced and carmelized
  • 6 slices bacon, slowly rendered and crumbled
  • reserved bacon fat
  • 1/4t ground grains of paradise
  1. make sure bacon fat is over medium heat and add brussels sprouts, stir frying to get color around edges.
  2. using slotted spoon, remove sprouts and discard fat
  3. put cream in pot and bring to simmer, then add sprouts and simmer for about 10 minutes or until a knife comes out clean.
  4. add onion, bacon, and grains of paradise.
  5. enjoy!
I just love brussels sprouts - and I can have so much fun with them because my hubby hates them so I know whenever I make them that he won't touch they are mine mine mine! This recipe is a bit on the rich side so you can't eat it all the time, but I figure the veggies kind of even things out :)
