heather summers's snickerdoodles
INGREDIENTS
  • Cooking Time: 3-10
  • Preparation Time: 30
  • cookies:
  • 1/2 c. shortening (softened)
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. + 6 Tbsp. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • coating:
  • 1/4 c. cinnamon-sugar
DIRECTIONS
  1. mix together shortening, sugar, and egg.
  2. sift & stir in the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  3. chill the dough in the refrigerator.
  4. preheat the oven to 400.
  5. roll the dough into balls the size of walnuts.
  6. roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  7. place the cookies 2" apart on baking sheet, bake til a little darkened but still soft, 3-10 minutes.
  8. cookies puff up at first then flatten out with crinkled tops.
